I had my radiation in the morning - Grant took a very syfy looking picture of me laying on the table. He said it reminded him of the movie "Coma" where all the old bodies were just hanging there in suspension - waiting to have their body parts harvested! EEEWWW.
Then, after breaking the glass on my iPhone - we went to the Apple store for repairs. We met Pamela Shandrow at her place to take the car to the nearest Goodwill in search of ugly Christmas sweaters - but there weren't too many to choose from - so we settled for some ugly holiday colored sweaters that we will use fabric paint and frills to embellish. I found a cute cat T-shirt that looks like Stella dressed as a snowman that will work just fine for me!
I was worn out after all of that running around - so I took a nap while Grant went out to pick up a salad for dinner - and got to the theatre for rehearsal at 5PM. My number in the Christmas show - "Man With The Bag" features 4 of the hot and hunky dancers from Wicked and is stylized perfectly for the song! They lift me and carry me around the stage - it's gonna be such a fun number - hope I don't fall!
I felt pretty good during the show - just conserving my energy to get through the whole thing. Thank God for make-up and wigs! They can cover the sunken dark circles under my eyes and my thinning hair.
After the show - I introduced Grant to Keith Bearden, Jonathan McGill, Rick Desloge, Cassie Okenka, and Kevin McMahon ( and their pets) while we had some traditional Irish pub food. It is already getting very cold again - so we just made our way back to the apartment and called it a night.
Today - The traffic is terrible so it took us a while to hail a cab out in the terrific cold! But radiation was a breeze - and I entered the facility like a celebrity coming in the back door of a Beverly Hill's plastic surgeon's office - incognito!
Both Grant and I wanted to experience some authentic Chicago deep dish pizza - so we found Gino's East Pizzeria around the corner and stuffed the pie into our gullets! There will be lots of leftovers for me to enjoy for days to come.
Half Supreme and Half Meatie supreme - deep dish! |
After a quick (and I mean quick because it is too cold for humans to be living in this city outside) jaunt through the Christmas market for a hot mulled wine we ran for the warmth of my apartment to shower and get ready for the rest of the day. So many people saw us carrying our take-out box of Gino's pizza and offered to take it off our hands - we should have started a bidding war!
