Sadly, Grant left today - but he was able to catch the "Santa Train" on the way to the airport - a very festive L train with Santa and crazy decorations and load Christmas music! Very festive.
Two shows today an some rehearsal thrown in at intermissions and any free time! Our brains are all fried. Mine - a little more than others.. I'm feeling not "myself" today - and having sharp stabbing pains in my left eye. During one number, the stab was so sharp - it made me stop in my tracks for a minute. Took another steroid and some ibuprofen for the swelling. Generally, I feel like my ears are stuffed with cotton, my eyes and lids are puffy and tight, and I'm a little light headed. There is a little nausea, too - but none of these symptoms are stopping me from doing my job! Just a little uncomfortable.
The cold is almost unbearable - everyone is suffering vocally. We are doing our best to keep hydrated and steam as much as possible. My humidifier is saving my voice and nose from drying out and bleeding.

Wig room transformation at Intermission |
Thank God for wigs and make-up! |
We start rehearsal at 9AM at the Laugh Factory - the return to the theatre for our matinee - then back to the Laugh Factory for the show and shenanigans. It will be such a fun night of performances - some touching some, hilarious - but all in good spirit! Here is a clip of the girls doing a "balls to the wall" performance of the original choreography from "Turkey Lurkey" of "Promises, Promises".
My friend Marina (Ballerina I call her) researched some soothing skin treatments for people going through radiation and brought me some lovely rose water and glycerin spray to which she added Echinacea oil for added healing! So thoughtful - and it is so refreshing. We've had lots of laughs about her ballet days - when the other girls told her that in order to stay skinny, she should eat dampened cotton balls and Splenda - it fills up your tummy and makes you feel full! Crazy!
Food doesn't taste good right now - so the left over deep dish pizza I had in the fridge looked great - but most everything tastes like a hard slab of salt… Guess that's better than damp cotton balls - but I try and eat when I feel growling bangs in my tummy - and throw in a protein shake whenever I can get a fresh one made.
Got my bag full of snacks and nourishment ready to go - and I'll take a pillow and hope to have lots of "down time" during rehearsal to just lay and rest. Looking forward to the fun - but really ready for it to be done now!
